Good design can make a huge difference in picture framing - and either make or break your artwork. Framing needn't be fussy, bright or colourful. In fact, it should be understated, and always designed to enhance the artwork, not overpower it.
This little Italian etching was brought in by a customer who never liked the framing with it's green and gold matting and gold frame - and had put it away a cupboard for 10 years.
We removed it from it's frame, in front of the customer and re-designed the piece together. We decided to float-mount the etching and frame it in a box frame. It gives the piece lots of interest and dimension without overwhelming it with colour - the piece is black and white after all!
We also decided to glaze the piece with Tru Vue Museum Glass - 99% UV protection and it's virtually invisible.
